Supervising Electrician Exam Prep Course – Winter 2018
A 48-hour course preparing licensed Electricians for the State of Oregon exams for Electrical Signing Supervisors License, Electrical Plant Supervisor License, and Electrical Inspector Certification. All National Electrical Code (NEC) Chapters in conjunction with the Oregon Electrical Specialty Code (OESC), State of Oregon Administrative rules and Rules and Laws will be discussed. There will be extensive study of the NEC requirements with home study of multiple choice questions. In addition, there will be multiple types of electrical calculations such as multi-family, commercial and industrial facilities covered while in class and as homework.

Course Objectives: By the end of the class, participants will: 

1. Understand intent and interpretation of code sections as it pertains to electrical installations

2. Understand the rules and statutes as responsibilities of a signing supervisor or electrical inspector.

3. Design and calculate service and feeder loads from supporting documentation.

4. Calculate transformers sizes to designed loads, transformer impedances and available fault current calculations.

5. Calculate raceway conductor fill, conductor allowable ampacities, and apply necessary environmental correction factors.

6. Understand and apply designs for installation of electrical grounding and bonding with conductor sizing, connections, and electrical system requirements.

7. Perform calculations for special occupancies such a medical facilities, classified locations, and special equipment requirements.

Materials: Students should bring current 2014 NEC, current copy of "Ugly's" and "Tom Henry's Key Word Index. Additionally, the student will need a calculator, pencils and an eraser, please no ink pens.

CEU Credit: This course provides 16 hours of continuing education credits for both the State of Oregon, Idaho or State of Washington license holders.
