• Open Play and Events



  • Complete with new cardio equipment and strength machines, the Exercise Center is a great place to get fit. The Exercise Center will be open to students and staff during regular Mazama hours:

    Monday thru Thursday 5:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.
    Friday 5:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
    Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
    Sunday 5:00 to 9:00 p.m.


    Volleyball

    Open play volleyball offers an opportunity for students, faculty, and staff to work on their skills in a low-commitment, low-stress environment. Come work on your skills! Open play volleyball will be held in Mazama Gym. 

    Thursdays  6:30-10:30pm


    Basketball

    Come work on your hoop skills. Open play is for students, faculty, and staff, and offers an opportunity to simply come play. Check the Open Play Schedule below:

    Fridays 5:00-8:00 p.m.
    Saturdays 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
    Sundays 5:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m.


    Table Tennis

    COCC has table tennis in the Mazama Gym, and will be holding our annual table tennis tournament on October 19 at 7 pm. Sign ups will go from 6:15 to 6:45 pm. This event is free for all COCC students and all skill levels are encouraged to participate!  Prizes will be awarded to top finishers.

    Bowling

    Free bowling passes to Lava Lanes are available for COCC students in the Club Sports Office, located in the Mazama 111. These passes are limited and are good for 1 free game of bowling and shoe rental. Students must present a current Student ID card to receive a pass.

    Swim Passes

    Free swim passes to the Juniper Aquatic Center are available for all COCC students in the Club Sports Office, located in the Mazama 111. These passes are limited and are good for one free visit to the Juniper Aquatic Center. Students must present a current Student ID card to receive a pass.

    A COCC Golf Tournament will be held Spring term 2018.

    Ice Skating

    Passes to the Pavilion for open skate are available through the Sports and Recreation office. 

    Running events

    COCC hosts several running events each year.

    • Turkey Trot (November 18) at 10 A.M. Run/Walk starts on the COCC Track. Day of race registration will take place in Mazama Gym from 9-9:45 A.M. All proceeds from the Turkey Trot will go to the Central Oregon College Foundation. The COCC foundation provides financial assistance to students and fiscal support for college programs. FREE FOR ALL STUDENTS. $10 for all other entrants.
    • Jungle Run/Walk (May 25) at 5:30 P.M.- The COCC Jungle Run/Walk offers participants either a 4-mile trail run or a 2-mile trail run or walk. The race course is fun, challenging, and includes single track trails, mud bogs, several steep ascents and descents, and numerous log crossings. There will be a prize drawing following the race. Keep your eye out for snakes along the course and win a prize!
    • Storm the Stairs (June 8) at 5:30 P.M.-The 22nd Annual COCC Storm the Stairs is a 2-mile run/walk that takes participants all over campus including over 300 stairs. The event is both fun and challenging for all skill levels, and a great way to enjoy COCC's amazing campus. Following the race the COCC Sports and Recreation Department will hold a barbecue for all entrants along with a prize drawing for all participants.
